The Cinque Terre Express train is the best way to get around in Cinque Terre. It runs every 20 minutes between Levanto, the 5 Cinque Terre villages and La Spezia. The average travel duration between each stop is ~5min, except between Riomaggiore and La Spezia (~9min).

How much does it cost?

The cost of a journey between any two stations vary based on the time of the year you are visiting:

  • Very low season (November to March): 3€
  • Low season (Weekdays in March, April, May & October): 5€
  • Medium season (June and September): 8€
  • Peak season (July and August, weekends and holidays): 10€

Important to know

  • If you intend to travel in train back and forth between the villages, it is highly recommended to buy the Cinque Terre Treno MS Card to save money as it provides unlimited train travel over 1-day, 2-day or 3-day periods
  • If you buy your physical train ticket at the station, you need to validate it at the stamp machines located in the stairs on the way to the platforms
  • If you buy your train ticket online, remember to check in before departure to validate your e-ticket. Open the “My journeys” area in the Trenitalia App / website or open the link in the e-mail you received and select “check-in”
  • You can find the Cinque Terre train schedule here
